Syntax Servers Update

After receiving my complaint from the BBB, they have decided to refund what I paid. :) I asked for the refund on the 20th, and this is the one and only time they have even acknowledged the fact that I asked for a refund. Thanks guys, it's too bad you didn't even care till the BBB contacted you. Take that as you will.

Summary

Just a quick summary on my terrible experience with SyntaxServers.com

I purchased a call of duty 4 server from Syntax servers. They were unable to properly configure my call of duty 4 server as a pure server, thus allowing players with modified game files to come into the server. Leading to unfair advantages and possibly hacks. They have been unable to fix this, though countless other cod4 servers are pure servers. On top of that they are ignoring my emails and won't refund my money.

I assume they just don't know much about some of the games they provide servers for. And their support has been spotty at best. Their responses are few and far in between. they've been polite when they actually respond but for the most part have been completely worthless. I asked for a refund and now they're ignoring me. Their checkout system is paypal and their only support is via email. I would not reccomend their services to anyone.

You get what you pay for, you don't pay much, and you certainly don't get much. .75 cents a slot is too good to be true I guess. Thank you for providing a place to post this, I hope others see and know to avoid syntaxservers.

Detailed version

I signed up a couple days ago with syntax servers for an 18 slot call of duty 4 server. It was setup and running in about 4 hours, it all went downhill from there.

I was wary of the company because their prices were so low, I thought it might be too good to be true but I read a couple good reviews on http://gspreport.com/reviews/Syntax-Servers The first issue I ran into, was that they had told me the wrong port number for my server. So when I went to try and customize my server, to my dismay nothing was changing. After about 45 minutes, I found in their control panel that my server was actually hosted one port above, which was reflecting my changes. I emailed them and they were no help until after the problem was already solved.

Now after configuring my server as I wanted it, I try to join it. My game crashes. I figure it could be my computer, I try it on my laptop, it crashes my game. I mess around with it for a few more hours, sending syntaxservers support emails in the process. And came to the conclusion myself that the server files were probably corrupt. Syntaxservers finally emails me late that night and tells me if I turn off sv_pure 1 then I can join my server. The only problem with that is, I want a pure server so that people with modified game files can't join, it can lead to unfair advantages and possibly hacks.

I tell them this is unacceptable, and I would like it fixed. More than 15 hours later, I recieved no response, and gave up. At about 20 hours I sent an email requesting a refund and told them I was done with their service if they could not run their servers correctly. They're now in the process of ignoring all my emails. Thankfully I'm only out $12.15
